The camp is situated in a unique location, surrounded by native vegetation, with expansive
views over Lake Taupo.
These aspects coupled with park like grounds give the camp a retreat like quality. You can enjoy the peace
and quiet here or set off and explore the area that exploded with the largest volcano the world has seen.
The Central Plateau is full of opportunity for site seeing, or in depth study.
A wide variety of outdoor activities are available:- tramping, rafting, caving, kayaking, abseiling,
skiing, fishing, swimming, thermal pools, mountain bike riding etc.
Mans encroachment on the environment has been limited but has provided us with ways of
enhancing our access or appreciation of the area:- jet boating, horse riding, lake cruises.
Education and understanding of the area can be highlighted through visiting Wairakei Research Centre and
Info Centres.
Our Resource manual will give you info on the history and geography of the area as well as
places to visit and ideas for programmes.
The Resource Manual is available @ $20.00.
